Boy's screaming kills chickens in China

Hundreds of chickens have been found dead in east
China - and a court has ruled that the cause of death
was the screaming of a four-year-old boy who in turn
had been scared by a barking dog.
The bizarre sequence of events began when the boy
arrived at a village home in the eastern province of Jiangsu
in the summer with his father who was delivering bottles
of gas, the Nanjing Morning Post reported on Wednesday.
A villager was quoted as saying the little boy bent over
the henhouse window, screaming for a long time, after
being scared by the dog.
"One neighbour told police that he had heard the boy's crying
that afternoon and another villager confirmed the boy
screaming by the henhouse window," the newspaper said.
A court ruled the boy's screaming was "the only unexpected
abnormal sound" and that 443 chickens trampled each other
to death in fear
The boy's father was ordered to pay 1,800 yuan ($A290) in
compensation to the owner of the chickens.

Some of the most grisly testimony in the murder trial of a pig farmer
accused of killing 26 women came today with authorities saying in a
videotaped interview that an alleged witness saw the defendant hang
and skin a woman on a meat hook before feeding her to the pigs.
In the interview, Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers continue
pressing Robert William Pickton during their 11-hour interrogation,
prompting him to reply that police were "making me out to be more
of a mass murderer than I am."
The police officers also tell Robert William Pickton in the videotaped
interview - played for the 12 jurors during the fourth day of Canada
' most sensational murder trial - that they have enough DNA and
eyewitness testimony to put him in prison for good.
Pickton, 56, is seen on the video responding with laughter and saying,
"Yeah, right."
Prosecutors maintain Pickton told an undercover officer planted in
his jail cell that he killed 49 women and intended to make it "an even 50."
