Pai Ti Kong


Today is the 9th day of the Lunar New Year. It is the birthday
of the Jade Emperor, more popularly known to the Hokkien
(Fujian) people as Ti Kong (Tian Gong in Mandarin). =)
haha~u muz be wondering y i put this foto.. when i was in d way
to taiping.. for the 'pai ti kong' ceremony.. i pass by this house..
kampung simee there..v saw dis.. its look like those typical green
plant with flowers growing on it.. except.. this time... the "flowers"
is red/orange plactic bags..-____-ll macam ini pun boleh..

jeng jeng jenggg~ inilah piglet yang kami akan gunakan untuk
perayaan pai ti kong nanti~

wooo000oootss! xD can see mah? huhuh.. eyelashes~
bergaya leh~ hahahaha

The fella in the middle is my annoying brother.. tengok
muka pun tau.. d other 2 is my twin cousins~ 1 boy 1 girl..
the girl is so much taller than the brother.. tsk tsk~ haha

That's my ah kong~ my ah ma is not here...she's at US
with my aunt. in maryland,washington =) hoho~ can u see
the lady wearing pink shirt sitting inside the house? That's
my mum~ hahahaha.. who0oooosh~

These are all the foood that we used for the ceremony~
piglet is a must! got chicken...duck..pomelo..pineapple...
kiuhsss..oranges...'mi ku' ( the pink bun) pulut...huhu

Ignore the ugli-ness of the joss paper.. We had no idea
how it suppose to look like..my aunt juz main hentam ask
us to fold it that way.. haha~

burn! bakar!! siu~ FIRE IS FUN! xD~ damm hot weh

This is my dad~ a.k.a the butcher~ he is the one who
cut@chop@slice? the  piglet every year!~ xD

After my dad choped everything (chicken,duck and the piglet)
we all makan puas puas~haha.. the 3 monkeys which includes my
bro and cousins.. eat most of the chicken and duck..-___-ll the
adults hardly had some..including maself~ xD luckily i ate some~
but not enuf! gah~ hahaha..i love the duck meat..managed to grab
1 piece nia.. chicken rox too~ ngekzz..

ARGHHH! Fyi, this is the 3rd time i typing this.. WTF!
damm mang u noe!! itu 'backspace' punya pasal larh!
T___T lil bit more.. im done with post.. *click* WTF~
went backwards.. WUUUUUUUUUUUUU!~!~

My dad asked us why did they use sugar cane?... OK~ good one
i duno~=) hu noes anyway~ ahaha.. he asked to go online n search
about it.. n yea~ i did.. i read this in Chinatownboy's blog..

According to Chinatownboy:
A pair of sugar canes was and is still a must. According to stories
heard, it was said once the Hokkien were being attacked (not sure
if they were the mongols or bandits) and they went to hide in the
sugar cane field. The sugar cane saved their lived. And so, when
they came out alive, in gratitude the prayed to Ti Kong with the
sugar canes, probably reminding them of how their lives were saved.


p/s: I'm SO gona have pork for lunch and dinner for d next few
        days..argh~ tolong~
